Acrobat Support Parity -- At Last
A year ago we first wrote about the increasingly annoying Adobe practice of not informing users of Acrobat for Macintosh about new or updated tech support documents, while anyone subscribed to receive updates for the Windows version received information about fixes or tips every month -- and some applied equally to Mac users. Just when it was looking like nothing had changed -- more of the same in the latest monthly email posting from Adobe -- we noticed for the first time an indication that this slight may soon end, as we explain in our Planet PDF Weblog for Wednesday. New Twist for Adobe-Macromedia Relationship
Given the history of recent lawsuits between Adobe Systems and Macromedia, it'll be at the very least interesting to see what comes of Macromedia's recent announcement that it plans to acquire San Diego-based eHelp Corporation -- which produces among other products RoboPDF, an Acrobat competitor at the low-cost, fewer-features end of the PDF authoring spectrum -- as we note in our Planet PDF Weblog for Wednesday. Rules -- apparently even Rumsfeld's in PDF -- meant to be broken
Given some of the recent news items reporting clashes between U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and some of his Cabinet-level peers, it's probably a good thing the Pentagon at some point in the past year pulled the 'Rumsfeld's Rules' document from its Web site. His stated beliefs include avoiding public spats that might embarrass the president, as we revisit in our Planet PDF Weblog for Monday. Monday, October 27, 2003
