Adobe Announces New Acrobat
4.05 Update Policy

Adobe Systems Incorporated will offer a maintenance update to its popular Adobe® Acrobat® software to registered users at no additional charge. All registered Acrobat 4.0 users will receive the Acrobat 4.05 CD. In North America, the Acrobat 4.05 CD will begin shipping December 1st, 1999, and customers should receive the CD within four to six weeks. For international customers, the update will begin shipping in mid-January, 2000, and customers should receive the CD within four to six weeks. Since Adobe will be automatically distributing Acrobat 4.05 to all registered users, those who haven’t already registered their product should do so at http://cgi1.adobe.com/WebObjects/WEC?pageID=RegMp1.

Customers in North America who have already ordered their update will not be charged and will receive an Acrobat 4.05 CD within four to six weeks of availability. In North America, immediate requests can still be fulfilled via Adobe’s tollfree number 800/272-3623 for a rush production charge of $14.95 plus shipping and handling. International rush requests should be placed through Adobe support providers beginning January 3, 2000. For a complete list of Adobe support providers please visit http://www.adobe.com/support/intlsupport.html.

In addition to providing the maintenance fixes, Acrobat 4.05 includes a new feature called Web Buy that enables users to download and read eBooks. Adobe will make available several classic books for electronic download using the new Acrobat Reader. Customers can choose from among more than 20 books located at the Adobe.com website including "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens; "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift; "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll; "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley; "Gulliver’s Travels" by Jonathan Swift; and "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, and many more.
