According to The Associated Press, a spokesperson for the high technology crimes department of Russia's Interior Ministry says Dmitry Skylarov will not be prosecuted in Russia if he is allowed to return home.

Sklyarov is awaiting an August 23 pre-trial hearing in the Northern District Court of California on charges of circumventing Adobe Systems' copyright protection technologies for its PDF-based eBooks. The young software programmer for ElcomSoft Ltd. of Moscow faces the possibility of five years in prison and a $500,000 fine if convicted in the U.S. for alleged violation of Section 1201 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
