Debenu, the company behind both Planet PDF and leading Acrobat plug-in developer, ARTS PDF, has released version 8.11 of its stand-alone PDF Library. Quick PDF Library 8.11 boasts a number of new features and improvements, including support for PDF/A-1b-compliant output, AES-256 encryption, TrueType font subsetting, HTML5 renderer output, plain text extraction with natural reading order, PDF417 stacked linear barcodes.

New version of pdf-DocPro released

UNIVERSE Software has announced a new version 8.0 of pdf-DocPro, its multi-purpose PDF software. pdf-DocPro is a PDF "Swiss army knife" that allows a user to set presentation properties, compress documents, split or merge files, digitally sign documents and remove master passwords from PDFs. pdf-DocPro 8.0 can decrypt 40-bit RC4, 128-bit RC4, 128-bit AES and 256-bit AES encryption and remove all security restrictions in a single click.

ERCLab has announced the launch of Print to PDF, an app that uses the built-in print functionality on iOS devices to save emails, webpages or documents as PDF files. Print to PDF 1.1 is now available on iTunes App Store for iPhone, iTouch and iPad.

PDF/A Competence Center to run PDF/A-2 webinar series

The International Standards Organization (ISO) published the PDF/A-2 standard in June. The latest version of the standard for long-term document archiving offers a range of extra functionality, including high performance JPEG2000 compression, support for transparency, and embedding of OpenType fonts. To help users get their heads around the new standard, the PDF/A Competence Center will be running a series of webinars.
