Airbus standardizes on Adobe Acrobat 7

Adobe recently announced that the Toulouse, France-based Airbus has elected to standardize it's worldwide operations on Adobe Acrobat 7. 32,000 seats of Acrobat -- spanning both Standard and Professional flavors -- will be rolled out over the rest of the year to streamline the international aircraft manufacturer's document generation, collaboration, security and archival processes.

Ubiquitous PDF: OCR pioneer's essays now available in PDF

The KurzweilAI.net website is making available in PDF format a collection of essays written by technological pioneer Ray Kurzweil from 2001 - 2003. Among other things, Kurzweil is known for his innovation in the field of optical character recognition (OCR), which ultimately led to the creation of the world's first flatbed scanner and the development of print-to-speech assistive technologies.

Adobe patches security hole in Reader, Acrobat

Last Wednesday, Adobe Systems acknowledged a vulnerability in both Adobe Reader and Acrobat that could be exploited using malware to release sensitive system information. Under certain circumstances, it is possible to discover the existence of local files on an end-user system using XML scripts.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has thus far failed to adequately secure internet infrastructure. The Government Accountability Office has released a PDF report that states that the US is not prepared for the possibility of a cyber-emergency, and that there could be serious consequences.
