Datalogics, Incorporated and Tech Soft 3D launch joint venture

Datalogics, Incorporated and Tech Soft 3D have teamed up to license the Adobe PDF Library SDK to engineering software developers. Datalogics will provide extended platform support, porting services, and core API maintenance and enhancements to TS3D; TS3D will provide licensing, support and engineering-focused enhancements to its customers, including support for native 3D PDF data types (PRC and U3D).

Bookmarksoft releases Bookmark Docs 1.2

Bookmarksoft has released a new document navigation tool. Bookmark Docs allows users to tag information across multiple browsers and readers, and can be used to mark up PDF, CHM, MSDN library documents and web pages. Users can tag and share bookmarks and also collaborate on a set of bookmarks for project management across formats.

Ubiquitous PDF: Walk in with two PDFs, walk out with a book

The Espresso Book Machine was named by Time Magazine as 'Invention of the Year' but its creators have been slow to perfect and implement. Version 2.0, however, is now being rolled out in bookstores worldwide. The machine can be used to access hard to find titles not usually stocked by small bookstores -- or you can bring along PDF files and make your own.

Adobe releases patch for Reader and Acrobat

Adobe has released out-of-cycle security updates for its Reader and Acrobat software, including a version of the recently released Flash patch adjusted for Reader's embedded Flash. The patch addresses vulnerabilities that could be exploited by an attacker through malicious code within PDF files.

PDF app adopted by Stanford

iAnnotate PDF has become the first iPad app to be required in Stanford University's medical school. The app is being used as a teaching and collaboration tool, allowing users take notes, highlight and underline in PDF documents, and share annotated PDFs via email, iTunes sync, Dropbox or VGA output.
