Planet PDF team gears up for Adobe Acrobat & PDF Conference

In a few short weeks, delegates from around the US and the world will converge on Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida to hawk their PDF-related wares, educate and be educated at AGI's annual PDF love-in (AKA The Adobe Acrobat & PDF Conference). The event is becoming an important fixture in the event calendars of many PDF professionals, and Planet PDF will again be a media sponsor and active participant in the show.

This week in PDF, the ink dries on a pair of technology partnership pacts, Intergraph provides some direction for cartographers, and ceTe Software .NETs an update to its PDF creation widget. If that weren't enough, the busy folks at LinkTek have delivered a new link repair solution while the masters of the UNIVERSE (Software, that is) have added Acrobat 7 compatibility to that company's password-recovery software.

Right Hemisphere Ships New Acrobat 3D Plug-ins

Right Hemisphere, a provider of Product Graphics Management (PGM) software, today announced the availability of two new software plug-ins for its Deep Exploration CAD Edition client software and Adobe Acrobat 3D. The Right Hemisphere PMI Module and the Right Hemisphere PDF Publishing Module plug-ins add 3D collaboration and PDF publishing functionality, respectively.

Enfocus announces PitStop Professional 7

Enfocus Software has announced that it will launch a major update to its flagship product, PitStop Professional, at the IPEX show in Birmingham. According to Enfocus, the updates PitStop Professional version 7 focus on productivity and usability. At the same show, Enfocus will also unveil PitStop Automate, a task-based production automation tool aimed at design studios, ad agencies, printers and publishers.

Vancouver, BC-based Vitrium Systems has recently launched a pair of new PDF DRM solutions. protectedpdf and protectedpdf.crm are both Software as Service (SaS) digital rights management (DRM) solutions, albeit with distinct functionality. protectedpdf allows business people to secure, control and audit access to sensitive documents, while protectedpdf.crm puts the same tracking and updating functionality in the service of sales & marketing professionals, allowing them to measure the reach and impact of white papers, sell sheets, and other collateral.

Planet PDF releases new resource centers

Planet PDF has this week launched two new PDF resource centers, with more to follow in the near future. The Resource Centers serve to aggregate PDF content such as whitepapers, case studies and product information that relate to PDF. The centers are a great first port of call for users of third-party software, as they can find in-depth information on the products -- straight from the vendors themselves.

Adobe releases v7.05 patches for Reader, Acrobat

Adobe has released an update patch for Acrobat and Reader that adds Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger" support and a handful of new features which presumably didn't make it into the original Acrobat 7.0 release. The update fixes a compatibility issue with Quicktime 7 on the Mac platform, adding support for Firefox 1.0 and Mozilla 1.7 browsers. The update will also allow for the entry and display of Hebrew, Thai and Vietnamese text.
