Adobe announces new Policy Server, renamed PDF JobReady

Adobe recently announced the latest additions to its Acrobat/PDF-based Intelligent Document Platform -- new enterprise document control software dubbed "Policy Server," and a renamed and enhanced PDF JobReady (formerly PDF Transit) for Internet printing and online document delivery.

A Danish security vendor is warning users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer of a spoofing vulnerability that could allow a virus to be disguised as a link to a PDF (or another common file format). The site offers a 'File Download Extension Spoofing Test' -- a PDF file -- to help determine vulnerability, as we summarize in our Planet PDF Weblog for Thursday.

Belated Rose betting admission fuels thorny baseball debate

Banished baseball legend Pete Rose hoped the long missing-in-action confession in his new book admitting that he did bet on games in the mid-1980s would resolve the debate and enhance his chances of getting into the sport's Hall of Fame. But the 225-page report that led to Rose being banned -- made available for downloading in PDF by the lead investigator -- also makes for great reading as we report.
