We've named the final pair of winners in our now-closed promotional contest to give away eight copies of the "PDF Print Production Guide, Second Edition," by Joseph Marin and Julie Shaffer of GATF. Adobe Acrobat 7 books on the publishing horizon

With the anticipated release of the English-language versions of Adobe's Acrobat 7.0 family of products due by year's end, numerous publishers, authors and bookstores are following close behind with a new array of educational books designed to help new and experienced users learn the respective capabilities of Acrobat 7.0 Professional and/or Standard -- and at least one book focusing on the version 7.0 Adobe Reader.

With the shortest Acrobat product cycle in company history, Adobe Systems today announced the forthcoming release of its Acrobat 7 lineup of Portable Document Format (PDF)-oriented products. They are slated to begin shipping by the end of 2004, according to the company; Acrobat 6 shipped in mid-2003. Acrobat has more typically been on an 18-month product cycle. Planet PDF is developing a range of articles to showcase the next version of Acrobat and the free Adobe Reader, including a variety of new and enhanced features. Check back soon for further details.

Acrobat 1.0 vet Pam Deziel back at Adobe for Acrobat 7 launch

On the eve of Adobe's announcement of Acrobat 7, Planet PDF talked with Pam Deziel, Director of Marketing for Acrobat on the desktop, about a few of the new and enhanced features in the product family and about her history with the company -- and particularly her decade-old involvement with PDF. Deziel was a member of the Acrobat team from versions 1.0 to 3.0, then returned as plans were taking shape for the just-announced version that is due to begin shipping in late 2004.

AdLib eXpress 2.9 released

AdLib eDocument Solutions has announced an update to AdLib eXpress. Adding support for Unicode fonts, version 2.9 can be accessed from multiple platforms such as Linux and Unix due to its integration with AdLib's complimentary Exponent product.
