Positive changes include a stronger practical focus in the seminar program and the new expo structure, which resulted in far less down-time in the exhibit hall. The show ended on a high note with the conference's grand prize draw.

A virtual stone's throw from Washington DC's halls of power, the tenth PDF Conference produced by Carl Young today kicked off in earnest. Arlington, Virginia's Hilton Crystal City this week played host to delegates from businesses hungry for knowledge or solutions, with presenters and exhibiting vendors more than happy to provide both.

Enfocus has announced a new solution for automation and quality assurance in print production environments. Enfocus PitStop Automate was launched at Print 05, and has been built on the Enfocus PitStop Library platform in order to add automation power to the production process.

As it has in previous years, PDF Conference will be running a series of pre- and post-show workshops that run anywhere from a half day to two full days in length. Infix PDF Editor v1.2, retails for US$99, and users can directly modify PDF documents, allowing for extensive full-text editing, while Infix handles the standard word processing tasks like reflowing and justifying text.

Quickcut recently announced its membership in the Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG). The GWG is an international standards body, whose members comprise graphic arts professionals, prepress and publishing solutions providers and vendors of related software.
Planet PDF has just added several new conferences to its popular user forum. Ultimately, this is a response attributable to the growth of PDF usage in key industry verticals such as engineering and design, medical and pharmaceutical and the legal sector. Planet PDF hopes that the advent of the new forum conferences will foster communication between users to help them solve problems specific to their respective industries.

QuadriSpace has launched a 3D desktop publishing packages for creating interactive PDF files that include 3D objects. Using the new application, entitled Document3D, creators do not need JavaScript programming or other intermediate translators to create interactive 3D files, and can import 3D CAD files directly into PDF documents, create exploded views, capture product information and create step-by-step instructions.
