The Planet PDF Team's experience extends back to the very beginning of PDF. We have not only watched the development of PDF as a standard document exchange format, we have gained experience and expanded our our knowledge through our day-to-day, hands on experience using the technology.

Dan Shea

Planet PDF Managing Editor

Dan Shea Dan Shea first became involved with PDF while developing a back-end process for the conversion of paper books for a leading eBook provider. He joined the Planet PDF team as PDF Store Manager, catalyzing a period of unprecedented growth in the area, and during that time gained extensive experience with the use of literally hundreds of different PDF software packages. His credits include the co-ordination of conference sessions, and he has moderated and spoken at such major industry events as Seybold Seminars, PDF Conference, The Acrobat & PDF Conference and Open Publish Sydney.

Richard Crocker

Planet PDF Editorial Director

Richard CrockerRichard Crocker is a director, product designer and marketer at Nitro PDF Software, and first became involved with PDF back in the days of version 1.1 and Acrobat Exchange 2.0. He helped launch the Planet PDF site in 1998.

Karl De Abrew

Karl is a seasoned speaker, moderator, industry commentator and columnist for a variety of publications. He is currently the CEO of Debenu, maker of the QuickPDF developer library (www.quickpdflibrary.com), an advanced developer tool for PDF creation and manipulation, and Benubird Pro, the easy-to-use personal document management system with a focus on PDF.

Dave Wraight Dave Wraight has been actively involved with PDF since version 1.0 and today heads PDF software and resource company AcroTips. For the past seven years he has developed PDF solutions and software for clients, as well writing and editing technical works on PDF ranging from tips to books.

Duff Johnson

Duff Johnson CEO of Appligent Document Solutions, Duff Johnson founded Document Solutions, Inc. in 1996 to deliver PDF technology services solutions for electronic publishing and business-process applications.

In 2008, DSI merged with industry software leader Appligent, Inc. to become Appligent Document Solutions. With Appligent founder Mark Gavin as CTO, the company wields an unmatched breath and depth of resources and experience in PDF technology.

In addition to his responsibilities as CEO of Appligent Document Solutions, Duff Johnson also serves the industry as Vice Chair of the U.S. Committee for ISO 32000 (PDF Reference), Chair of the U.S. Committee for ISO/AWI 14289 (PDF/UA), as a feature article contributor on Planet PDF and AcrobatUsers.com and as a blogger on Talking PDF, Duff's blog on www.appligent.com.

Gary Armstrong

Gary ArmstrongVisit ARTS PDFFounder and former CEO of Lantana, and now VP of Sales at ARTS PDF (ARTS PDF and Planet PDF are both divisions of BinaryThing), Gary has extensive knowledge of PDF in the graphic arts industry. Lantana was initially an Adobe partner doing hardware development for their OEMS, but early on Gary recognised the emergence of PDF as a viable format for prepress and print production and he switched the company's focus to software. The first product, ARTS PDF Crackerjack, became an industry standard plug-in and is widely used today. Prior to founding Lantana Gary held sales management and executive positions at Xerox, QMS (Konica Minolta Printing Solutions), and RasterOps.
