Auto-Link has been developed to automate creation of links of certain terms (e.g. product names or product numbers) in multipage documents with corresponding names in external files. The 2.0 update additionally offers linking of indices.
Catalogues, handbooks and assembly instructions may contain references to
external files (e.g. technical drawings or graphics saved as separated
files). Users of these documentations simply click on the link and the
referenced drawing will be displayed immediately. To avoid time consuming manual search and insertion of links, Auto-Link searches the entire text for defined text strings and automatically creates links referencing external files. In doing so, the program orients by text-attributes like fonts - size and type or by positions of text. Care should be given to the fact that target positions are precisely defined. Otherwise, Auto-Link will not be able to set links properly.
Additionally, Auto-Link may be set to accept only certain parts of a
reference. For example, in an order number only the leading 6 digits may
be of interest when the external file name consist of exactly these numbers.
When all parameters are set, the plug-in checks the entire document and
automatically sets all "open file"-links.
New in version 2.0:
Automated generation of links for an index
Search for characteristics of fonts in source and target files
Application for address lists or similar tables, catalogues and
Links can be set to reference any available document
